It's That Time of Year

I've got 15 family and friends coming to our house for Thanksgiving dinner today. It's my turn to cook the turkey. I'm excited!

I wish everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving Day a wonderful day full of fun, love, fellowship, and good food.

Thank you for reading my blog all these years.

Quick Post

Just a quick post to say my Sweet Hubby finished his ride. He made it from start to finish. Congratulations sweetie!

Sweet Hubby started in San Diego, CA and rode his bicycle across the southern tier of the United States. He ended in St. Augustine, FL. It was around 3300 miles. Here he is with his bike wheel in the Atlantic ocean.

As I write this, he's on a plane on his way home right now. I can hardly wait for him to get here. His flight arrives in 4 hours.

Still no snow. It's been very cold and dry. Lots of sunshine, but we haven't been above freezing in a week. But the weather forecast says things will change starting tomorrow night. Snow is coming. I knew it was waiting for Sweet Hubby to get home.

Cashmere WIP

Since Sweet Hubby has been away, this little cat played. Heh heh. A few weeks ago the shop I teach at, Knit-n-Crochet, had a trunk show featuring Mountain Colors yarn. I found myself unable to leave without purchasing a luscious skein of a cashmere/silk blend called Louisa in the colorway Lady Slipper. It was extremely expensive, so I only bought one skein. I am making myself a soft lace mobius cowl to wear with my purple fur coat. I'm about halfway done with it now.

I can't describe how absolutely wonderful this yarn feels. I wish I could afford to make a whole sweater with it. It's a real joy to work with.

I need to get the cowl done cuz it's friggin' cold around here. Temperatures took a nose dive and we're getting single digit temps at night, and not getting above freezing during the day. Brrrrrrrrr... My neck needs that cowl.

I have been working on the Moose sweater, but I have only been able to get in a row here and a row there. However, now that I've had the Knitwits meeting this month, I should be able to get back to it more often. The meeting was yesterday and it's the last one for turning in our freshly made donations. I'm going to take December off for Knitwits knitting. I turned in a total of 3 shrugs, 3 pairs of mens slippers, 1 pair of mens mittens, plus my daughter gave me 2 pairs of baby socks and 1 pair of adult socks to turn in, and I had 2 crochet afghans given to me by a couple friends to turn in too. In addition, I managed to collect 4 big bags of yarn donations from friends and purchases (I'm always looking for a great deal) to take to the meeting too. I feel very good about being able to do that. Our December meeting is the best one of all. We distribute everything we've made to the various charities we support. I'm looking forward to it.

Sweet Hubby is a little over halfway across the top part of Florida. He will be coming home next Tuesday. I am SO excited! I miss him so very very very much. I can't wait.

Slippers for Knitwits

The knowledge that Knitwits needed more slippers for men got me making some. It is hard to get the gals to make men things because men don't like the pretty bright colors most of us like to knit. So I have been concentrating on mens items most of this past year. If you will recall, I made several pair of mens mittens earlier this year. I got 3 pairs of slippers done in the last few weeks. With 2 strands of worsted yarn held together, these knit up very quickly.

Emme Red Carpet Walk

A new doll in my  collection. This is the Robert Tonner doll Emme Red Carpet Walk. I finally got a sunny day so I could take her picture.

She has such a pretty face.

She has a gorgeous outfit.

I'm happy to have her in the family.

It's been another hectic week for me. I have finished some knitting, which I'll blog about tomorrow. I had 2 classes to teach this week, plus the usual group meetings and whatnot, except for Knitwits. The November meeting is next week because the hall we meet in had a prior engagement for our regular day.

We got quite a bit of rain this week. I'm just glad it wasn't snow, though they're saying snow tomorrow. I'm hoping it waits until Doug comes home, which is in 10 days. I'm getting so anxious and excited. He's been gone such a long time. He's in Florida now. Not much further left for him to go. Anyway, it was sunny today but it only got to 39F degrees.

I Won!

I am so excited. This last week a Red Carpet Walk Emme (Tonner dolls) showed up on Ebay for bid. I won her! I got her for a reasonable price too. I was fortunate that my competition bidders were cheaper than me.

Pic from the Tonner site

She's never been removed from her box mint condition. She is shipped and will be here later this week. Hooray!
